Evaluating web tools and apps: Phraseum

This tool was scooped by Nik Peachey in his blog . It may be very iteresting for those of you who are always looking for new phrases and trying to enrich their vocabulary. Phraseum helps you to clip, save and categorize any kind of  words, phrases and sentences found while you are browsing the web. It's very simple to use since you can add a "clipping button" to your toolbar so the application is always at hand. Among many other things (that are clearly explained in the website  Makeuseof.com), this tool also allows you to have immediate access to the site in which you (or somebody else) came acrross that language in the first place. In addition, it can be used for collaborative learning since you can share your clips and have access to other perople's records and sites.
I think Phraseum is great since we can improve our language knowledge and take advantage of the inumerabe language sources that are available in the internet. It's very useful to create a database on any kind of vocabulary area, according to our own interests and needs.

The Nik Peachey's criteria that were apllied to my choice are the following:
Accessibility: all students will be able to use it
Learnable/teachable: it's basically copy and paste
Learning goal/outcome: improving vocabulary, learning from"real use" language samples
Price: it's free
Interaction-Communication: it contributes to collaborative learning
Reusable: it can be used for many purposes
Context: it is both for teachers' and students' use

Here you can have an idea of how it works. If you want to give it a try, click here

This is my creation with the tool Phraseum. The phrase I clipped was taken from an article from the NY Times about the last elections in Argentina.
